Miss TeRae

September 24, 2011   We finally left South Haven, MI after 2 days of waiting for calm water.  We left yesterday at about 11AM and arrived in New Buffalo, MI about 2 hours later.  The 1st half of our trip was on calm water, but the last half was a bit "choppy" and we were glad to call it a day after 43 miles.

We checked out New Buffalo and had a hamburger at Redamaks (famous place in this area).  We moored at the Municipal Marina even though it was closed for the season (so we had no electricity or water).  It worked out just fine - the rates were good!

Today we arrived in Chicago at 12:30PM after a 2 hour cruise across Lake Michigan.  What an awesome sight - the skyline appearing on the horizon and getting larger as we got closer.  We docked the boat and took a long walking tour which included some of Downtown and the Navy Pier.  We plan to stay here 2 nights before moving on.  There is so much to see and do.

Miss TeRae

September 15, 2011  - We plan to leave from South Haven next week.  It all depends on the weather, as much of our trip will.  Lake Michigan can be pretty tempermental this time of year.

We are getting a little later start than we had planned, because of delays on closing of our house in IA.  In fact, we have spent this past week in IA, finishing up the details.
We seem to be very near the end of that fiasco now and are officially Michigan residents, having obtained drivers licenses, voters registration and truck license.

In a few days we will provisioning our boat and making the final arrangements to leave.
The next entry should include the details of our departure.  Later........
